Zhi Chen (陈智)

PhD student and intelligent software engineering researcher focused on practical Code AI systems.

With a consistent B.Eng., M.Sc., and Ph.D. focus in Software Engineering, I have built strong foundations and gained two years of full-time industry experience as a software engineer. I am currently a PhD student at the Centre for Research on Intelligent Software Engineering (RISE), advised by Prof. Lingxiao Jiang. My research focuses on practical Code AI systems, including large code models and software engineering agents, bridging academic insights with real-world applications.

Project: Multi-Agent Systems for Code Optimization

Built an end-to-end multi-agent system covering hotspot localization, optimization generation, and performance evaluation. Co-designed the system pipeline; analyzed agent trajectories and refined agent behaviors; enhanced the CPU-gain evaluation platform to support reliable optimization assessment, SFT data curation, and RL reward computation.

Project: Deep-Research Agent - Knowledge Integration and Literature Review Assistant

Built a modular LangGraph-based agent integrating web and arXiv search for knowledge synthesis and a proof-of-concept literature review generator. Refactored the original demo, implemented multi-step retrieval and summarization pipelines, and contributed to a survey on reinforcement learning for deep research agents.

Project: “Loop” - Survey Platform for Product Incubation

Launched a production-ready survey platform from 0 to 1 and established its CI/CD pipeline. Developed authentication, survey configuration, notification, and cron modules; implemented data aggregation with goroutines and Redis caching; and visualized survey insights.
